The government relations department is responsible for building and maintaining key relationships with members of the Kansas congressional delegation, state legislators, the governor, cabinet members and staffers, as well as associated farm and agricultural organizations. These activities support strong working relationships with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), and other state and national organizations to maintain a strong representation in the State of Kansas.
There are few legislative matters that do not impact, in some manner, the electric cooperatives of Kansas. Whether on the state or national level, it is imperative that these activities be monitored and acted upon. By coming together and addressing legislative issues with one voice, the electric cooperatives can continue to help shape and foster positive rural legislation.
KEC looks forward to the challenge of meeting and growing relationships with our citizen legislators. It is an opportunity for us to share the cooperative business model and help educate and provide constituent services to the legislators.
